A new chapter has begun in Eti-Osa Local Government, and at the center of it stands a woman of quiet strength, deep vision, and tested leadership: Hon. Omo’ba Adeola Alimot Adetoro, the newly sworn-in Executive Chairman.
Her journey to this moment hasn’t been overnight nor without lessons. Born and raised in Lagos, one of eight children, Omo’ba Adeola took her early steps in life grounded in strong values and a passion for service. She later studied Business Administration at Kennesaw State University in the United States, where her leadership instincts continued to grow.
But it was back home in the thick of grassroots governance that she found her calling.
Building From the Ground Up.....
Before assuming her current position, Hon. Adeola held several key roles in the local government. She first served as Deputy Executive Secretary of Eti-Osa, then moved on to become Vice Chairman, working closely under the leadership of former Chairman Saheed Olusegun Bankole.
During that period, she wasn’t just holding a title she was actively shaping policies and delivering results. From heading the Tender Board, to serving as Supervisor for Health and later Education, her hands were full, and her commitment was clear.
“Those years taught me how much a local government can actually do for its people when the focus is right,” she said.
A Voice That Found Its Power in Service...
When asked when she realized her voice could truly make a difference, Adeola points back to her earlier administrative years.
“As Deputy Executive Secretary, I had the opportunity to contribute to real, impactful projects from healthcare to education to infrastructure. That was when I knew I had a voice worth using,” she shared.
That sense of purpose led her to launch her own NGO, OAA Helping Hands Initiative, through which she delivered food palliatives, tech training, scholarships, and empowerment programs especially targeting women and underprivileged youth in Eti-Osa.
Grace Under Pressure: A Woman in a Man’s World......
In politics, being a woman comes with its own set of challenges. But Hon. Adeola doesn’t waste time complaining she focuses on rising.
“I don’t see barriers. I see opportunities to prove myself,” she said, simply.
She admits the space is not always welcoming. "Men will sometimes try to intimidate or undermine you. But when you know what you're doing and stay consistent, you gain ground."
It’s that blend of confidence, competence, and calm resolve that has earned her the respect she carries today and the space she now occupies as Chairman.
Her Vision: People First, Always......
Looking ahead, Hon. Adeola’s goals are clear and grounded in continuity, growth, and community well-being.
“I want to build on the legacy of my predecessor and take it further especially in areas like healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure,” she noted.
But more than projects, she’s focused on people. “I want to leave behind a legacy of service, excellence, and sincere attention to human needs one that will still be felt long after my tenure.”
To Young Women: Don’t Wait. Step In...
As she settles into her role, Hon. Adeola is already thinking beyond herself especially about the next generation of women.
“To every young woman out there: don’t wait to be called. Step in. Be academically sound, uphold your values, and get involved especially in politics.”
She believes women need to be present where decisions are made not just to be seen, but to effect real change.
“Politics affects every part of life. If you're not involved, you can't influence the direction of your own community,” she concluded.
In a political space that often favors noise over substance, Hon. Omo’ba Adeola Alimot Adetoro brings something different steady leadership, deep empathy, and a true heart for the people she serves.
At Her Voice News, we recognize leaders not just by their positions but by their impact. And in Eti-Osa, that impact is just beginning.
