FROM CARGO TO COMPASSION: THE STORY OF FOLUKE MERCY ADEBAYO

In the world of logistics, few names carry as much weight as Foluke Mercy Adebayo (née Obiwusi). She is the Director of Comfort Cargo Services, the largest cargo company serving Kent, United Kingdom, and a woman who has managed to combine business success with a demanding healthcare career and impactful humanitarian work.

Foluke’s company, Comfort Cargo Services, has built a strong reputation for reliability and efficiency. With a user-friendly website and mobile apps, and top customer ratings on the UK’s biggest review platforms, it has become a trusted name for clients both locally and internationally.

Away from the cargo business, Foluke works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Acute Oncology, a role that demands expertise, patience, and compassion. She also runs ACD Charity Organisation, based in Nigeria, which she founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Commitment to Helping Others

ACD Charity was born out of a desire to support the most vulnerable in society abused women, children, and people with disabilities. The organisation has reached communities like Makoko slum in Lagos, provided mobility aids for disabled individuals, paid school fees for children, and supplied food and clothing to orphanages and schools for the blind.

“We started during COVID because the need was urgent,” Foluke explains. “Since then, we’ve tried to respond where help is needed most.”

Overcoming the Challenges

Balancing multiple roles business owner, nurse, mother, and student has not been without its difficulties. Foluke continues to study to advance her medical career while running Comfort Cargo and leading her charity.

Her work also involves dealing with the public, which comes with its own challenges: satisfying customers from different backgrounds, managing high expectations, and sometimes handling unpleasant behaviour.

“Improving services and meeting customers’ needs is always my focus,” she says. “In logistics, you must be ready to solve problems quickly.”

Her Guiding Principles

For Foluke, success is built on self-belief, discipline, and meaningful relationships.

“There’s nothing that can limit you if you believe in yourself,” she says. “Your attitude matters, and your relationships are like currency invest in the ones that add value. Push yourself to do what you think you can’t.”

Foluke’s story is one of persistence and purpose. From running a leading UK logistics company to improving lives in Nigerian communities, she has shown that business and compassion can go hand in hand.
