Her Voice News
When passion meets purpose, beautiful things happen......
That’s the story of Mrs. Senami Oki, a Community Health Officer and one of the driving forces behind Heritage Global College of Health Technology, Ibereko, Badagry.
In a quiet but powerful way, she’s helping to shape the next generation of healthcare workers bringing hope, opportunity, and growth to her community.
How Her Journey Began....
When asked what inspired her into the health line, Mrs. Oki smiled.
“My journey into health started from my father,” she said. “He loved health workers the way they dressed, their discipline, and how they cared for people. That admiration stayed with me.”
It wasn’t just a dream, it became her calling.
Turning a Vision Into Reality.....
Though she didn’t start out planning to own a business, life took her in that direction.
Alongside her late husband, a medical practitioner, she founded Heritage Global College of Health Technology a school built from a genuine desire to make healthcare education accessible to everyone.
“At that time, the only government health college was in Yaba,” she explained. “Many people from our side couldn’t travel that far, and there were no hostels. My husband decided to bring it closer to the people.”
Today, that vision is alive and thriving.
“We thank God,” she said with a smile. “The school is going to four years now, and the demand keeps increasing. Every family wants their child to become a health worker."
What Makes Heritage Global Stand Out?
Mrs. Oki proudly described her school as affordable, accessible, and practical.
They have a hospital within the premises for students’ hands-on training, qualified tutors, and standard hostel accommodation.
“We make sure our students get real experience,” she said. “As long as they have five credits in English, Math, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology, they can begin. We’re here to give everyone a chance.”
Her Message to the Next Generation
When asked for her advice to young people who want to join the health sector, she didn’t mince words.
“Be focused and be hardworking,” she said. “This profession is not just a career it’s service to humanity. Keep learning, keep growing, and let God guide you. Learning has no age limit.”
Quotes to Remember
“The health profession is more than a job, it’s a calling to serve.”
“Learning has no age barrier. The world is moving, and you must move with it.”
